Affection

Affection; it's something humans live for, strive for, work for. From childhood, people love their parents and, in turn, hopefully, the parents show affection back. It's the balance of life. As they gradually move farther and farther away from their parents, they search out to find a spouse, another reciprocator, a soulmate. "Til death do us part," is the grandest example: people are willing to stay affectionate, usually over a long period of time. When people show affection towards someone, it's almost expected that the other reciprocate. It's seen in nature, when a young cub cuddles with the loving mother bear. Animal instinct gives us this "til death do us part." The mother bear would gladly sacrifice her life for her cub to escape. It's that beautiful.

Animals vs. Catholicism

I know, like most of us, a person who's a devout Catholic and she explained to me that animals were created by God for our own well-being; "for our own good." is what she said. She also went on to insult vegetarians using alliteration saying they were "stupid" by ignoring the "good gifts of God." She also explained that animals do not have souls.
The idea of something "good" initially depends on the person, wouldn't you say? I think good music is Classic Rock. You do not. Does the universe conspire with you or with me? I say, neither, and others would agree. Essentially, I could say, I feel "good" that an animal I could've eaten is still alive. And how do you define what is and what is not a soul? And by which definition confines humans to being the only one with souls? When I see an animal, I can see that each animal fights for its life if it's threatened. Does that not represent that animals too have something within them that wants to live?
Humans are simply monkeys with more brain power. Does intellect make us more superior? We're allowed to destroy other animals because we're smarter? Seems like an abuse of power to me.

Respecting Bush

I realize there are many hundreds, thousands, of blogs out to bash our president. But, from the bunch I have read, people fail to bring up the fact that a president is supposed to gain respect and trust throughout his nation. I have tremendous amounts of respect for Bush. Seeing how he dealt with September 11, was just amazing; he unified our country in a strike against Al-Qaeda. But, what happened was something you wouldn't want from a worthy fellow: he lost his mission; he lost his passion, but, more importantly, he lost the people's passion. We see from our history that, in times of need, the great presidents knew how to take our saddened hearts and form optimistic spirits, if not joyful. And from that, we learned to respect a leader. Bush had his cards given to him, served to him and he captured our hearts, only to leave us empty. Granted, he has had to deal with a lot in his 8-year tenure: two majorly damaging disasters, 9/11 and Katrina. But those are his cards; act brave and courageous, and the country would love him. Show that what he has done is the most he could've done. But no, Bush must not know how to play cards, despite being from Texas. He declared war on the basis of "weapons of mass destruction" that weren't even there. And wasn't our target Al-Qaeda and aren't they in Alfghanistan? No matter, we went on with the war and some people did approve and we still loved him. Then, he could never put a deafening point into the Iraqis and show us his bravery and determination. And our hearts gradually sank but his ratings slowly decreased. But our hearts took a hard blow in Hurricane Katrina and Bush had claimed he had no idea the hurricane would be so catastrophic, as the levees would be breached. Caught on tape, several advisers had warned him of the incoming disaster and he persisted in ignoring it. Maybe he tried showing us his perseverance? He had lied. True, many presidents lie but they do it for good reason and Bush ignored good advice and maybe some common sense and that is a steady path to disapproval. And that is how and why no one approves of Bush, he doesn't gain our respect or trust, he grabs it and then ultimately crushes us. Of course, I had skipped over many invigorating details, which spanned over the past few years. What more can I say? Other than: "two more years?!"

Oh, the inhumanity. Oh, the insanity

Inhumane - lacking kindness (search “Inhumane definition” on Google)

By that definition, we, humans, are the most inhumane species. Of course, we do love but those are rare times, seeing how a good amount of us are single and even for those who are “in love” per se, there are those relationships that are purely a result of desperation, hiding, fitting in, etc. We are kind, yes, but only to the things we understand. We’re taught from our childhood not to talk to strangers and it’s human nature to disapprove of things we don’t understand. If there were aliens about, we wouldn’t laugh at or accept them, we’d fear or kill them, even if they truly wanted to coexist with us. When things get in our way, we destroy it, even if the thing is ourselves, the human species. Don’t tell me it’s our nature; from the little I know about primates, I’m pretty sure they can coexist with other animals as we see in forests and such. Most real estate agencies don’t offer an ecological environment to compliment your home (unless you’re loaded with cash), and when we don’t separate our homes from animals, we tend to stress the owning that is involved. “It’s our pet dog.” Wait, sorry, that’s wrong. “It’s the pet dog.” We call it a name that signifies ownership. Also, put into certain light, a leash is enslavement. Of course, may be overstatement but essentially, it limits what they can do, so maybe not enslavement, but rather confined liberty (they are free so long as they don’t cross what we believe), if there is such a thing. As for ourselves, we do not treat ourselves any better than we treat animals. We ruin our environment (which is unkind toward are future) and we’ve lost the meaning of love and unity. James Madison said, “If men were angels, we would not need a government.” Angels? We’re not close. Most governments in the world, or positions of power, are corrupt. The people who fill these positions of power are often abusing their strength and depth of war technology to cause others, our own species, to be killed, if not controlled (and that’s disregarding the treatment of their own countrymen). They say ambition is good, but I say it a little too much is a major drawback. And if not in the high positions of power, there will always be corruption in the souls of those people who choose to kill, to murder. We are the cause of our own deaths and if not directly, then indirectly, we choose not to help those of us in need. Humanity is suicidal. “The goal of war is to kill people.” I’m certain that animals don’t create brawls that kill hundreds, thousands, millions, of people and last years and years. It is only us, humans. Intelligent design? I think not.
